We are very proud of our Children’s and Youth programs. Every Sunday, our beautiful Church School is filled with energy and the sweet-spirit of Children learning and growing in faith and love. Our classes are taught by church-members and church staff-people, all of whom have undergone background checks and have been well prepared for this important work.
A Place for Growth
Check out FCC’s upcoming events for children and families:
- To develop a loving and personal relationship with God.
- To help our students understand that they are accepted, loved, and important members of our community.
- To learn from, teach, and embody the lessons of the Holy Bible.
- To encourage children to follow Christ in their daily lives.
- To help children reach out into the wider community in service to others.
About Our Programs
During worship we provide professional nursery care for children up to age 4. The first step in the lifelong growth of faith is simply knowing that the church is a place for you to feel safe, nurtured, and loved, no matter what. That is what we strive to do in our nursery each week.
Beginning in Pre-K, our children begin to learn about the practices, traditions, and stories of our faith. Children are divided into classrooms by Grade and use the Whirl Lectionary Curriculum to engage the insights of our faith with the questions of their lives. The Curriculum is related each week to the topic of the Sermon in worship, so that adults and children in our congregation are receiving the same lessons in age-appropriate ways. Our hope is that the conversations sparked here continue on the car ride home and all throughout the week!
In Middle School our students begin to wrestle with the big questions of faith and God. Our teachers will lead conversations that engage both faith and doubt and encourage our youth to uncover their own insights about what it means to live a life of faith. Students in the age-group are guided by the Groove Bible Study.
Students in second grade go through a preparation program to receive First Communion in the spring of each year. This program starts in February and runs during following worship, after the regular Sunday School classes. The class is taught by the Director of Christian Education with the help of the pastor and a deacon. During the celebration of First Communion in worship, students are also presented with a Bible.
Baptism is available to children and adults of all ages. Baptism is a sign of God’s unconditional love and the mark of entry into Christ’s church. Baptisms are scheduled as part of Sunday morning worship services. Whether you are a longtime member of our church, or have never been here before, we would be honored to celebrate God’s love for you or your child. To discuss a baptism please contact our pastor.
